Remember:
Before the day of the test: Read the directions for all sections from your book, including the directions for the grid-ins. Understand the directions before the day of the test!
Pointers for test day:
- Underline what your looking for.
- Answer the Question: if it asks for 2x, give them 2x not x!
- Cherry Pick! (You do NOT have to answer the questions in order.)
- Be methodical when you bubble.
- “Move your pencil!” Do NOT rely on mental math. Mark up your booklet.
- Do NOT Waste time on any single problem.
- Do NOT Rush through easy questions to get to the hard questions. They are all worth the same amount.
- Know where you are in difficulty level.
- Look to the answers for hints.
- Do NOT trust a picture marked “Not Drawn to Scale.”
- Do NOT miss or overlook the underlined text.
- Do NOT go down an algebra rat-hole.
- Sometimes simply plugging in the answers is the best approach.
- Be nimble.
To avoid the most common mistakes, Remember:
- Perimeter vs. Area.
- Radius vs. Diameter.
- Mean vs. Median.
- distribute negatives through parenthesis.
- use enough parentheses in your calculator.
