IV. Re-do ALL of your Bluebook mistakes (stored in your College Board account under “My SAT” Hide correct answer and explanation. Understand your mistakes.
Before the day of the test: Read the directions for all modules in the Bluebook App, including the directions for the student-produced responses. Understand the directions before the day of the test!
Pointers for test day:
- Know what your looking for.
- Answer the Question: if it asks for 2x, give them 2x not x!
- Cherry Pick! (You do NOT have to answer the questions in order.)
- Be methodical when you click.
- “Move your pencil!” Do NOT rely on mental math. Use the scratch paper (they will provide for you).
- Do NOT Waste time on any single problem.
- Do NOT Rush through easy questions to get to the hard questions.
- Know where you are in difficulty level.
- Look to the answers for hints.
- Do NOT trust a picture marked “Not Drawn to Scale.”
- Do NOT overlook the underlined text.
- Do NOT go down an algebra rat-hole.
- Sometimes simply plugging in the answers is the best approach.
- Be nimble.
Avoid the most common mistakes:
- Perimeter vs. Area.
- Radius vs. Diameter.
- Mean vs. Median.
- distribute negatives through parenthesis.
- use enough parentheses in your calculator.
Do NOT run out of steam!
